The Corporation des thanatologues du Québec offers a wide range of services for the promotion of the profession, the funeral industry, and the protection of the public.
- Representation with government and public and private agencies and organizations (the Registrar of civil status, the Office du Coroner, the departments of Health and Social Services, Consumer Protection, Revenue, Employment, Education, Justice, the Réseau PME-Inter notaires, as well as businesses and associations…);
- Development of standards, rules, recommendations for the respectful delivery of high-quality services;
- Creation of professional development programs (Excellence Program, bereavement counsellor training);
- Service quality assessment program;
- Publication of general (The Bulletin) and targeted (Jasons thanatopraxie) information bulletins;
- Advertising of the profession;
- Development of partnerships to provide members with additional information, tools and resources for the bereaved families they serve;
- Member training (2-3 times per year) in management, bereavement counselling or embalming;
- Production of documents (contracts, forms, brochures...);
- Examination of consumer complaints and convening of disciplinary committees when necessary;
- Telephone and online support for members and the general public on a variety of subjects;
- Two years’ free membership for new graduates in funeral services management who wish to join the Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.
